Overview
Founded in 2010, Fiverr is a massive online digital marketplace for freelance services. The company connects clients (buyers) interested in design, digital marketing, business and blog writing, video, programming and financial services with freelancers (sellers) in accordance with skill level, budget, delivery time and a bunch of other parameters. The brand name Fiverr comes from the idea that every person, regardless of budget, should be able to get a good and affordable service to grow their business. This is why the most basic service plans on the marketplace start at $5.
The Fiverr Pro program was launched in 2017 and represents a separate, top-tier marketplace featuring some of the most skilled and experienced freelancers in their respective categories. The Pro status is awarded only to handpicked freelancers based on their education, portfolio, experience, etc. Currently, the Pro marketplace is available for 4 categories: Logo Design, Blog Writing, Animated Videos, and Social Media Marketing.
Plans & Pricing
Since every freelancer gets to choose and set their own strategy and offers, the pricing tends to vary greatly. Following the idea of Fiverr, one may be able to find, more or less, suitable sellers at as little as $5 for a project; however, the job quality and designer experience will vary greatly.
For the Fiverr Pro Logo Design category specifically, services start at $310 and can go up to $5000 in some instances. Regardless of initial pricing, each seller offers 3 packages: Basic, Standard, and Premium. The contents of each package are also dictated by the seller, along with the delivery date estimates, the number of revisions and supported file formats.
Let’s look at an example:
This is what a Pro seller’s profile looks like. You can see the packages on the top right with detailed explanations of delivery dates, number of revisions and what’s included in the package. In this case, the Basic package includes 1 initial logo concept, logo transparency, and high resolution and vector files, while the Premium package features 3 initial concepts, all the features in Basic and Standard plus 3D mockups, stationery designs (such as business cards and letterheads), and email signature.
On the top left, you can browse the seller’s portfolio, learn about their design style and which file formats the logo will support when all is said and done. You can also get to know the designer through reading their short bio and looking at some reviews of previous buyers at the very bottom of the profile.
Portfolio and Experience
Style and experience-wise, the marketplace is highly diversified. The design category features over 50,000 designers worldwide, each representing a different style and approach, meaning that every buyer will be able to match their preferences perfectly and find a good candidate for the job. Moreover, the number of both regular and Pro profiles is growing on a daily basis since the Fiverr team is continuously working on adding more top-tier professionals to the marketplace and expanding the range of aesthetics even further.
The experience of the designers varies greatly as well and it can be filtered by their profile level: level 1, level 2, and top rated. Generally, the higher the profile level, the more experience, expertise and skill the freelancer has. Profile levels are awarded based on a number of criteria, including previously completed projects, the satisfaction of buyers, and diversity of the portfolio.
As for the Pro marketplace, most of the Pro logo designers have at least 5 years of experience in various aspects of graphic design and a relatively big base of previously satisfied customers. Once you’ve identified a Pro designer that fits your needs, it’s almost impossible to go wrong.
Thanks to platform’s infrastructure, there is a very high chance that the logo designer that you choose is also skilled in other design verticals like website design, social media, stationery, banner ads, etc. This gives buyers the opportunity to negotiate a good deal with the seller since they are able to purchase a number of different services from the same freelancer, who will usually offer discounts in such cases.
Another great aspect of the Pro marketplace is the quality of service. Educating customers and delivering high-quality service is an important aspect of the Pro status, and the Fiverr team is taking this very seriously. Even if you don’t have a clue about what you need or have close to zero design knowledge or experience, every Pro seller will take the time to explain the details and educate you.
Design Process
Finding a designer for your logo design project is easy to start, but time-consuming to finalize. While the platform is easy to navigate, it doesn’t offer a great way to help you find a suitable freelancer for your specific project, apart from a mediocre AI system, so you’ll have to do it manually.
Once you have chosen your category, you’ll be redirected to a page where you can find all the available sellers for the given category. You’ll need to make good use of filters on the left side of the screen to narrow down the search results and make your decision based on the portfolio, customer reviews, and the pricing plan of the given freelance designer.
In case you don’t have time to browse through all the options and find a suitable seller, you have the option to simply post a request to the seller community. All you need to do is create a free account, describe your needs, and you’ll start to receive a number of proposals. However, there is no guarantee on the skill level, experience, and quality of freelancers that will apply to your post, which again, can make the whole process rather tiring and time-consuming.
Ease of Use
Navigating the marketplace is a breeze if you have enough time to dedicate to searching for a perfect freelancer to work on your project. Seller profiles are constructed in a way that allows buyers to quickly and easily scan the candidate and decide whether they want to shortlist them. The downside is that all of the work needs to be done manually.
